Phone interview tips

The employer can make a phone interview to identify and recruit new candidates.
Phone interview is usually the initial step to screen a candidate pool. When you are trying hard to seek for a job, you must prepare yourself for a sudden phone interview at anytime.

1. Prepare for the interview:
Preparing for a phone interview is the same as when you do for a normal interview.
The most importance is that you must have a completed resume covering the following contents:
• Your detailed personal information;
• Your qualification and relevant training courses you have attended;
• Your experience in each company you have worked for before;
• Your talent;
• Skills;
• Abilities;
• A list of strong and weak points;
• Your career goals;
• Your participation in social-cultural-transport activities;
• References.

2. Practice the interview:
When you have completed your resume, research for samples of phone interview questions and practice them.

3. During the phone interview:
You should note about the following points when answering a phone interview:
• Turn off any waiting call of yours to assure you are not intervened during the interview;
• If the time and place is not suitable, don’t hesitate to speak to the interviewer to remove the interview to a substitute time and place so as you deem may fit;
• “clear” your room of children or pet; turn off any sound and TV; close the doors;
• Don’t smoke, chew gum, eat or drink during the phone interview;
• Speak slowly and clearly;
• Don’t interrupt the interviewer’s sentences;
• Give brief answers.

4. After the phone interview:
• Note down anything you are asked and your answers;
• You may make a thank-you letter in which you can provide more information to the interviewer.
