Carol is a senior research scientist at Purdue University’s Rosen Center for Advanced Computing, where she is the director of the Scientific Solutions group. She leads the group in developing cyberinfrastructure to support scientific research and educational needs through collaboration with researchers at Purdue, elsewhere in the U.S. and internationally. Carol leads a number of NSF funded projects as principal investigator, including the TeraGrid Resource Partner and the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) projects at Purdue, the DRINET data interoperability project and, mostly recently, an NSF Data Infrastructure Building Blocks implementation project. Prior to joining Purdue, she worked in industry for eight years leading development of software products and standards for network medical imaging technologies, and publishing and storage solutions. She also founded her own software company at Purdue Research Park, funded by NSF SBIR and Indiana 21st Century grants, developing mobile computing software solutions. Carol worked at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at UIUC when the center was first created and developed one of the first scientific visualization tools used in academic. Carol received her Ph.D. in computer science in from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champion.
