Abstract

These demos showcase the basic functionalities and capabilities of Dask (a Python-based scalable parallel computing framework) and xarray (multi-dimensional arrays in Python). The main focus is on working with netCDF files, performing basic mathematical operations, and creating plots. Video walkthroughs, Binder-enabled interactive environments, and Jupyter Notebook files are included.

There are two demos available at this time:

  1. Plotting Mean Sea Ice Concentration (NOAA OISST dataset)
  2. Creating Interactive Plots of Mean Air Temperature (NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis dataset)

The videos are linked in the attachment section of this page. For more information, please visit our GitHub Page, and all relevant files are available in our GitHub repository.
